In Art we aim to develop our Creative and Critical thinking, Develop practical skills in Drawing, Printing, Painting and 3D modelling and learn to develop and express opinions on Artists work and Art around us from a knowledgeable  and articulate basis.

With so many mediums to use and techniques to try there is always going to be an aspect of Art you can excel at!

    What is portraiture? How has it served a purpose throughout history? How does a portrait tell a story? Exploration of Chuck Close. Gridded drawing techniques. Mono print techniques. Exploration into Giacometti’s layered printing techniques.

    Self Portraiture. Is a selfie a Portrait? Does it tell a story? Working from own photos, creating as series of self portraits. Layered Mono printing. Collage and mixed media. Looking at emotion in Portraiture. Exploring the work of Francis Bacon.

    Chiaroscuro. How has it been used throughout history in Portraiture and why. Looking at the work of Kathe Kollowitz. Creating Chiaroscuro in your own photos. Gridded drawing assessment from Chiaroscuro photos.
  • Module 4: Close up
    A miniature world of Photography. Looking at the work of Slinkachu. Creating Photography. Understanding the mechanics of a camera. Shutter speeds and Macro photography. Group work to create a series of own phots.
  • Module 5: Close up
    Exploring texture in black and white photography. Creating an abstract image using Macro photography techniques. Exploring the work of Edward Weston. Analysis, evaluation and charcoal studies. Creating plaster casts of a pepper.
  • Module 1: Initial Foundation project
    Pupil choice of topic ‘Skulls’/ ‘Flowers’/ Food. Exploration through a series of 2D studies. Own photography/ Pencil/ Printing and Painting.
  • Module 2: Initial Foundation project
    3D exploration of media. Latex/ Plaster casting/ Clay sculpture. Relevant artist research and analysis.
