The study of a modern language should broaden students’ horizons and encourage them to step beyond familiar cultural boundaries. We want students to develop confidence in communicating in another language and appreciate other cultures traditions and worlds.

The study of a modern language should broaden students’ horizons and encourage them to step beyond familiar cultural boundaries. Just one in four of the world’s population speaks English, which means having another language will give your child countless opportunities to meet new people, make friends and network. It is reported that close to seven in ten teenagers say they’d like to work abroad at some point and the study of a language could help them in almost any career and open up opportunities at home and abroad.

  • Module 1: Being able to describe myself and others, saying what people do (and don’t do)
  • Module 2: Describing locations and places to say what is around us. Thinking about Spanish festivals
  • Module 3: Looking at other Spanish speaking countries and what we may find there. Talking about our families
  • Module 4: Talking about what we do with others, and contrasting what people want to do and have to do. Writing to penfriends
  • Module 5: Linking the use of technology to our travel plans.
  • Module 6: Describing when and where people go, now and in the future
  • Module 1: How we use our mobiles and other technology . Expressing our opinions and comparing TV programmes, apps and genres of music
  • Module 2: Holiday activities and talking about the weather. Discussing our holiday preferences
  • Module 3: Describing a past holiday, giving opinions and using time phrases
  • Module 4: Talking about healthy lifestyles with food and exercise including how this fits in with our daily routine
  • Module 5: Giving opinions about jobs and discussing different roles. Saying what jobs we would like to do and why. Describing our qualities in relation to suitable jobs.
  • Module 6: Writing about a past and planned trip to South America.
  • Module 1: Relationships with our friends and family. Thinking about the qualities of a good friend
  • Module 2: Talking about healthy lifestyles with food and exercise including how this fits in with our daily routine
  • Module 3: Describing school uniform giving opinions about school uniform.  Describing what primary school used to be like Discussing school rules
  • Module 4: Describing job roles and giving opinions about jobs Saying what job we would like to do and why.  Describing our qualities and suitable jobs
  • Module 5: Talking about what we can do in Madrid and what we must see and do in the city Describing our favourite day in Madrid using the past tense
  • Module 6: A project about our ideal town and where we would like to live in the future
